StudyBuddy

January 2013

StudyBuddy is a flash card study aide project I have been working on recently out of personal interest. Having used flashcards frequently over my many years of schooling I know how useful they can be and realized they would be even more useful if they were easily accessible. Not only was this a concept I was interested in developing but I thought it would be a great way to practice and learn new JavaScript. I created the site design, code and content myself. This version is Phase 1 of my development plans. Phase 2 will include adding responsive functionality to the site and Phase 3 will enable database interaction to allow users to save flashcard sets and create their own accounts.

Tools:HTML 5, CSS 3, CSS Normalize, jQuery, PHP, Adobe Dreamweaver, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop.

About Me

Chris Brenner • Web Developer • Vancouver, BC

Hello again...

Chris Brenner Portrait Photo

Chris Brenner is a Front-end Web Developer who enjoys learning new technologies and connecting with other web enthusiasts. He has worked on a variety of projects including designing and developing responsive websites, migrating existing websites to content management systems, and creating both web advertising and e-mail marketing templates. To expand his capabilities and knowledge base, he attends web related meetups and enrolls in part time classes. Chris hopes to launch his first web app, StudyBuddy, in the near future.

Chris graduated from the New Media Design and Web Development program at the British Columbia Institute of Technology. Enrolling to experience the program’s in-depth coverage of the web industry, Chris realized a fondness for writing code. As someone who naturally enjoys puzzles and problem solving it’s no surprise that web development sparked an interest. Watching code transform, one line at a time, into a comprehensive, functional web site or web product never ceases to amaze him. Web technologies are a constantly changing part of our world and Chris is excited to continue learning and educating himself alongside them.

When Chris isn’t plugged in to the World Wide Web or working on personal projects he enjoys the outdoors and staying active. Whether it’s a day at the beach, a session of rock climbing, or simply an evening walk around False Creek, Vancouver, Canada is a beautiful place to live. Exploring the world is also important to Chris. While the web has brought us all closer together than ever before, nothing quite matches setting foot in a new place or experiencing a new culture – something he hopes to do more of in the future.
